Shane Woodward hails from a dot on the map in South Carolina, a true southern gentleman. As soon as he was old enough to hold a pencil, he began drawing. His early life found him fascinated by the art of David Mann, which married his love of art to his love for motorcycles. He worked the early part his adult life mainly in bike shops and restaurants, dreaming of the open road.
In his spare time, when not sweating and covered in grease, he would be riding with his buddies through the beautiful Appalachians, where they frequented a bar and grill called Margaritaville. Unbeknownst to Shane at the time, connected to that greasy spoon, was the tattoo shop where he would find his beginnings in his lifelong career. Shane had a brief apprenticeship at Necro Design, until the open road called him south to Athens, then even further south and west to Austin, Texas. (EDITED TO PREVENT INCRIMINATION)
Shane now co-owns Black Pelican Tattoo after 18 years of faithful service to tattooing, has two sons, Bodhi and Cash, and an awesome woman in his life, who keeps things rolling behind the scenes. Shane is dedicated to being a well rounded tattooer, but has a special place in his heart for large scale Japanese tattooing.
